Understanding ISO

Labels (Low ISO): ISO-100, Aperture-3.5, Shutter Speed-1/10
Labels (High ISO): ISO-6400, Aperture-3.5, Shutter Speed-1/500

Question Answers...
~ISO is the measure of a digital camera sensor's sensitivity to light
~In the camera, ISO can detect light to get the right amount needed, which then also either brightens or darkens a photo.
~In the "Exposure Triangle," ISO changes the lighting which then changes aperture along with shutter speed. The higher the ISO, the lower the aperture and shutter speed need to be, and vise versa because not as much opening or time for light is needed with the higher ISO.

Understanding Shutter Speeds

 Labels (Fast S.P./frozen subject): ISO-800, Aperture-3.5,
Shutter Speed-1/13
Labels (Slow S.P./blurry subject): ISO-800, Aperture-11, Shutter Speed-1second

Question Answers...
~Shutter Speed is the amount of time the shutter is open
~In the camera, the shutter is open and closing in any setting to capture an image. In a picture, a slower shutter speed creates a blur effect while a faster shutter speed captures the image quickly. (For example, a faster shutter speed is better if photographing sports.) It also controls the amount of light so also could make a picture more or less bright.
~In the "Exposure Triangle," shutter speed is the tool which captures movement easiest. It controls the amount of time the light gets through the aperture and ISO settings.

Understanding Aperture

Labels: ISO-100, Aperture-6.3, Shutter Speed-1/100
Labels: ISO-100, Aperture-5.6, Shutter Speed-1/100

Question answers...
~Aperture is the size of the opening in the lens when a picture is taken
~In the camera, aperture is the space that changes in size and mostly controls the amount of lighting which also says how it affects the photo. (More/less lighting.) It also affects the depth of field, as you can see the back round contrast between these two photos. (Smaller/lower aperture is smaller field of depth, and vise versa. In other words changes back round to either clear or blurry, so lower aperture makes a more blurry back round.)
~In the "Exposure Triangle," aperture changes causes light changes. This is because the size allows how much or how little light gets in, so this affects ISO because if you have a lower aperture, you need a little higher ISO because there's less space for light to get through and you would need an average shutter speed for time to let light in, but not too high because this causes a blurry effect.

Peer Portrait Assignment- Marie Burns

Meet Marie Burns. A very happy and giggly yet somewhat quiet girl. Being quiet doesn’t mean you’re shy, though. She seems quiet because she always seems to be thinking. Marie also is quiet because she is mostly off in her room likely to be reading a book! And if she’s not there, check and see if you can find her flipping around at gymnastics. These things and having fun are interests of her’s along with photography so she can capture a moment. Marie is a very smiley and sweet young lady and has a great outlook on the high aspects of life, but not too high because she’s afraid of heights.(;

Sketchbook Cover

My sketchbook cover reflects me in a various amount of ways, but mostly through the theme of dreaming/dreamer. My head is up in the clouds most of the time and also, with the castle, shows how I want to be a princess/queen, hence why dreaming/dreamer is the main theme. I used "unity" as the principal of design and "cool (colors)" as the color scheme to accomplish this reflection of who I am and how I act. In addition, I also used both pictures seen here to, again, get across a symbol that represents me. I took both photos myself. One is Cinderlla's castle from the famous Disney icon, which I photographed in Disneyworld in Florida. Along with that is the picture of the clouds, which I shot on the way to Florida. These are both pictures I caught in the moment. I think these are good photos compositionaly because the picture of the castle captures the beauty of it and the clouds just look cool because it gives you a sense of being in the sky. Put together, it's like walking on a cloud and creates its own fantasyland/world of fantasy! Along with that, I wrote my name in "disney font." (; I love the photos individually just because I love dreaming, both while sleeping and having an idea in my mind to accomplish something which possibly is a "big dream" which is portrayed through the image of the clouds. I also love the idea of fairytales and just Disney in general which I take from the picture of the castle. Combined, it shows of a place I've pictured and have often wanted to go to. Pretty much exactly like this cover (a castle in the clouds.) All this came together after time of cutting and gluing to tell you a bit about me, which, again, is I am a dreamer and I love fairytales, because "what exactly are fairytales? They're a reminder that things will get better if we just hold on to hope." -Once Upon a Time

Blog Post 2- "Favorite Photo"

This is my favorite photo because of how I captured Hailey holding the mic to the crowd and the rock sign. Additionally, she is one of my favorite singers and has helped me personally through her song lyrics and being so inspiring.

What Makes a Good Photo/Points Taken From Famous Photographers-
The main point I have taken from this article is that photography is not just snapping a picture at something that looks cool. Its telling a story and getting the message across to the viewers. Its sharing your emotion and sharing how you feel. These are the main messages I have taken from reading this article.
